The match between Australia and Ireland is an incredibly important fixture in their group as this could decide which team makes it through and it will be a tough match. You would say Australia should win but their T20 record isn’t that great so Ireland are well in the hunt to progress in this group but they must win this match. Australia’s most dangerous player is David Warner but unfortunately he has been in woeful form with the bat. George Dockrell will target Warner early as he has a habit of getting out to the spinners but Dockrell will also look to take advantage of the pitches in Sri Lanka.

David Warner vs George Dockrell
David Warner is a match winner and can win a match on his own shoulders but that looks extremely unlikely based on his current form but you never know Warner could just explode one match. George Dockrell will look to exploit the weakness early of Warner which is spin and don’t be surprised in Dockrell opens the bowling. Dockrell has been in decent form and should do pretty well at this tournament but in the warm up he had one good game taking 3/28 against Zimbabwe and another going for 19 off 1 over. Warner has a brutal strike rate of 140.00+ but having scored 1 half century in his last 10 games will be a worry for Australia.
Australia’s coach Mickey Arthur has hinted that Clint Mckay will carry the drinks meaning Starc, Cummins and Hogg will be the bowling attack also with Christian, Watson and Maxwell to chip in. David Hussey also has been dropped in favour of Glen Maxwell and Cameron White which is a huge surprise.
Ireland could play an identical XI that beat Bangladesh by 5 runs.
