Australia vs Pakistan 2nd ODI Preview – 31st August

Australia and Pakistan will play in the twilight of the night once against in Abu Dhabin in the 2nd ODI. Australia weren’t given much of a chance this series since they didn’t have Watson and because of the abnormal conditions but they did very well to win the 1st ODI. Umar Akmal will be a key player in this match and displayed a snippet of what he can do at the top level in the 1st ODI. The man he got out to was Mitchell Starc who had a magnificent match and will be looking to build on the 5 wickets he took in that match. A win for Ausralia in the 2nd ODI will confirm they will win the series.

Match Information :

August 31, Abu Dhabi
Starting Time: 1800 Local Time (1400 GMT Time)

Key Contest:

Mitchell Starc vs Umar Akmal

Mitchell Starc has been a underated figure in Australia cricket, they have a huge number of fast bowlers to pick from and somehow Starc has slipped under the radar. Starc has a lot of potential and looks similar to Mitchell Johnson except more consistent. His 5 for shows that he can perform at the top level, he also has had a successful county season. Umar Akmal is one talented 22 year old and still hasn’t reached his prime but by looking at him bat he is going to be a very good player in a few years time when he matures slightly more. A strike rate of 84.84 is fantastic in ODI’s but to also have a batting average of 38.74 that is incredible and he can win a game self handedly.

Team News:

Australia shouldn’t make any changes to the XI, the only possible change could be bringing in a spinner which is Doherty and possibly replacing Mitchell Johnson who was quite expensive.

The Pakistan bowlers were quite expensive and the middle order didn’t seem to do too well and a few changes could be made by the Pakistan selectors.
