Australia are safe and will progress to the semi-finals unless something crazy happens in this and the other fixture. Pakistan need a win because a loss would knock them out of the tournament if the 2nd fixture is a flogging. Pakistan will need a large victory because if India win their match it will be up to the Net Run Rate. Shane Watson has been the player of the tournament so far, he is leading almost every chart and with 4 Man of the Match awards already can he get his 5th consecutive against Pakistan. Umar Gul has had a poor tournament to his standards and even though his contribution against South Africa got Pakistan over the line Gul wants wickets.

Shane Watson vs Umar Gul
Shane Watson will be chasing a 5th consecutive man of the match award in this tournament which would be incredible if he can keep his form up with both bat and ball. Umar Gul continues to struggle with the ball in hand as he was very expensive against India going for 30 runs off 3 overs and wicketless. His yorker has not been featured too well in this tournament and Pakistan need Gul to show up with confidence as Pakistan will need his experience and skill later in the tournament if the manage to progress. Watson surely has to break form soon and it wouldn’t be too bad for Australia if that did occur to Watson with a bad game.
Australia may wish to go in with the same line-up that played South Africa as it is very hard to drop Xavier Doherty but if a spinner has to be dropped it could be Bradley Hogg who has only taken 2 wickets.
Australia (probable): 1 David Warner, 2 Shane Watson, 3 Mike Hussey, 4 Cameron White, 5 George Bailey (capt), 6 Glenn Maxwell, 7 Matthew Wade (wk), 8 Brad Hogg, 9 Pat Cummins, 10 Mitchell Starc, 11 Xavier Doherty
Pakistan are likely to show faith in their current XI for this important match against Australia.
Pakistan (probable): 1 Mohammad Hafeez (capt), 2 Imran Nazir, 3 Nasir Jamshed, 4 Kamran Akmal (wk), 5 Shoaib Malik, 6 Umar Akmal, 7 Shahid Afridi, 8 Umar Gul, 9 Yasir Arafat, 10 Saeed Ajmal, 11 Raza Hasan
