Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd Test Preview

Both Bangladesh and the West Indies will be anxious to win this 2nd test with this being the deciding test if their is a winning result. Both teams will be desperate to show better performances than the 1st test and if anything Bangladesh’s confidence level would be slightly higher as they took out more positives from the 1st test than the West Indies whose spinning woes are haunting them.

How the Teams Stand:

Bangladesh would be proud of their efforts in the 1st test match against the West Indies and for their sake hopefully they can lift as a team and produce a wonderful group performance and claim this 2nd test. Tamin Iqbal is starting to score some runs but in different fashion to what you expect from Iqbal and if he can perform close to his best Bangladesh will be well in it. Bangladesh usually rely heavily on Shakib Al Hasan to take the wickets but now that they have Elias Sunny who did extraordinary on debut that will relieve any pressure Shakib may have had. To clam this test series they have to bowl well to the West Indian stroke makers.

The West Indian XI that played in the 1st test would count themselves lucky because if there was a few more days in the test they would of lost no doubt. The batting is a strength of the West Indies with big names who can play some great strokes but then again they can give their wicket away too easily. A good start by Simmons is crucial and then Chanderpaul and Samuels can do the rest in the middle order. A target for the batsman has to be at least 300 to give them a good chance of winning this test. The bowling may not be as strong as it was when Garner was playing but they still have some talent. Fidel Edwards and Ravi Rampaul will be crucial in Mirpur as it is meant to assist the pace bowlers and if they can take advantage of that they are in pole position.

This Mirpur pitch will give the quick bowlers something to smile about but for stroke makers who like the ball coming onto the bat they will also enjoy this pitch.

Simmons and Chanderpaul have been struggling with a few niggles and the West Indies will be sweating over their fitness otherwise Kieron Powell will come in.
