K Warriors v Nagenahira SLPL Match 5 Preview – 13th August

It’s the 5th match in the 2012 Sri Lankan Premier League and the K Warriors will face off against Nagenahira who have picked up an early 2 points with a win against Ruhuna on Saturday. It is very hard to judge the Nagenahira outfit after one showing which was affected by rain and were lucky to scrape through with the win. Kumar Sangakarra will be missing for the Kandurata Warriors with Thilan Samaraweera having to fill in the captaincy slot.

Match Information :

August 13, Colombo
Starting Time: 2000 Local Time (1430 GMT Time)

Key Contest:

Sohail Tanvir vs Ahmed Shehzad

Sohail Tanvir is a strong T20 player and has all the attributes to be a real star in the SLPL in 2012. Ahmed Shehzad is a fellow countryman but no love will be lost when these two play each other on Monday night in Colombo. Tanvir took 3 for 31 off 3 overs in the 1st game whilst Ahmed Shehzad had a far less successful match being dismissed for a golden duck. Shehzad will be fighting for a place in the Nagenahira team and with a strike rate of 135+ averaging 30+ he is a real force. Tanvir is a very experienced T20 player with a career economy rate of 7.18 that is very good for a pace bowler but the strike rate of 18.7 is a key stat as he is a wicket taker which will be important in the early stages of a innings.

Team News:

It’s very hard to judge a team on one performance so all four overseas players for Nagenahira should get another game after winning on Duck worth lewis in their first match.

None of Kandurata’s overseas players made a huge impact in their first match loss and a few changes could be made. Sohail Tanvir took 3 wickets but was very expensive having 31 runs taken off him in his 3 overs, a possible change could be bringing in Albie Morkel. Misbah-ul-haq is not a recognised T20 player and Adam Voges or Dane Vilas would be a suitable replacement for the Pakistan batsman.
