More Highlights: CLT20 2011

The Chennai Super Kings have reached the Champions League once again after defeating Bangalore in the final of the IPL. They now face Mumbai and the last time these 2 teams clashed were early in IPL 2011 when they suffered a narrow 8 run loss. A month ago many of the Indian players in the Chennai team looked out of sorts which included Dhoni and Raina who were out of form against England but late in the series struck form which was perfect timing for the CLT20. Spin will be key in this tournament and Ashwin, Jakati, Randiv and even Raina will be important. Mike Hussey has been a key figure in this Chennai team opening the batsman and is in great form with the bat and will be handy with Murali Vijay opening the batting. Albie Morkel, Doug Bollinger and Dwayne Bravo will most likely be the bowlers for Chennai and all are key to their chances and must take advantage of the weakened Mumbai squad.

Mumbai won the 3rd place playoff during the IPL this year and managed to participate in this tournament and will play rivals Chennai where they have had a lot of hard fought matches including the 2010 IPL Final. Mumbai have a far weakened squad then the IPL one as Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma and Munaf Patel have been withdrawn through to injuries. Their new captain is Harbhajan Singh who hasn’t performed too well over the past year struggling to pick up wickets. Ambati Rayudu will be crucial to Mumbai’s chances as he shined this year during the IPL at the top of the order and is Mumbai’s most consistent batsman. They are allowed to play with 5 overseas due to the withdrawals meaning they can have Malinga and Pollard plus 3 of Symonds, Blizzard, Jacobs and Fernando. The bowling will be crucial as their isn’t too many big names so that will mean Malinga will have to be at his best if Mumbai want to win this tournament.
