Nagenahira v K Warriors SLPL 2nd Semi Final Preview – 29th August

It’s the 2nd Semi Final of this year’s Sri Lankan Premier League, and Nagenahira and Kandurata will be happy they have made the finals after all teams except Wayamba struggled to stay consistent over the group stage. The winner of Nagenahira and the Warriors will play the winner of Wayamba and Uve Next in the final on August 31. Ajantha Mendis has been a key figure for his team and despite a poor last game he will be looking to bounce back. Chris Lynn, he has only played 1 match but the Australian already looks set to make a huge impact with the bat in these late stages of the tournament.

Match Information :

August 29, Colombo
Starting Time: 2000 Local Time (1430 GMT Time)

Key Contest:

Ajantha Mendis vs Chris Lynn

Ajanthan Mendis is looking to guide his team into the final of the 2012 Sri Lankan Premier League after a very successful tournament to date which has also earned him a spot in Sri Lankan’s 15 man squad for the T20 World Cup. Chris Lynn was an unknown in Sri Lanka before making 80 off 51, scoring only the third half century for Kandurata which was also against the favourites Wayamba. The Warriors batting has not been good enough and if they continue the way they’re going Nagenahira should have no problem ripping through them since they do have such a good selection of bowlers.

Team News:

Bad news for the Warriors though is that Sohail Tanvir and Saeed Ajmal will be unavailable due to international commitments which will make things a lot easier for Nagenahira. Johan Botha should fill the spot voided by Saeed Ajmal and also adds the dimension of an extra batsman. Albie Morkel could also be given a spot in the lower order replacing Tanvir.

Nagenahira played well in their last match and should play the same XI.
