Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians Match 72 | Preview | 20 May | 2012

Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians Match 72 PreviewThe last match for the group stage of the IPL 2012 between Rajasthan and Mumbai is basically a dead rubber. Mumbai are the only team in this match fighting for something worthy while Rajasthan missed out in their chance to reach the finals after losing their previous match, It will be an exciting game as both teams carry big time players like Watson and Malinga.

Match Information :

May 20, Jaipur
Starting Time: 2000 Local Time (1430 GMT Time)

How the Teams Stand:

Rajsthan’s fate in the IPL this year was decided in their previous match where they lost to the Deccan Chargers and have no chance of making the top four. Mumbai are guaranteed their spot in the top four but will will be fighting for 3rd place because if Bangalore manage to win they will be 4th before the match. Rajasthan’s strength is their batting while Mumbai have been bowling very well recently and should be a very good contest between the two.

Key Contest:

Lasith Malinga vs Shane Watson

Lasith Malinga started the tournament off brilliantly but now teams are finding ways to face him and Malinga isn’t adapting. Shane Watson has made a huge impact on Rajasthan since arriving and would feel disheartened that he didn’t carry them through to the finals but he is their X-factor player. Malinga has 21 wickets at 5.83 runs per over and still is a massive threat but Mumbai need him in form for the finals and needs a big performance against the Royals. Watson been nothing but impressive for the Royals with 210 runs at a great strike rate of 159.09 and his work with the ball has also been a huge asset to the team.

Team News:

With Rajasthan out of contention for finals they may wish to give players who haven’t played too many games another chance against Mumbai. Kevin Cooper, Brad Hogg and Dinesh Chandimal might be given a chance, especially Chandimal who hasn’t played one game for Rajasthan and he might fill in for Shah.

Despite a loss against Kolkata Mumbai shouldn’t make any changes to the XI.
