Sri Lanka still remain their inconsistent form, not winning the match but the Sri Lankan side looked much better in the 2nd ODI and narrowly losing by 8 balls. That won’t help their confidence that must be at an all time low and with all the missing players from South Africa like Amla and Kallis that might give Lasith Malinga the chance to make the new inclusions feel uncomfortable with a few of his yorkers. Malinga will be the crucial player for the match as South Africa’s batting has been outstanding while Sri Lanka’s has been inconsistent of late. South Africa just has to keep playing the same way and it should be a breeze for them against Sri Lanka in the 3rd ODI which will seal the series.

Vernon Philander was out of the first 2 ODI’s through to injury but is available for selection and it is expected that he will make it into the XI. He was a bowler that first looked like a menace against Australia when they were in South Africa and his clean action forced a lot of discomfort on the batsman. Philander will be looking to build his career so he is there striker bowler once his fellow colleges make way and is a strong talent. Dilshan has yet to score a run with 2 ducks so far in the series and since taking over as captain there have not been any contributions that would of set the world on fire. As captain he needs to step and take control of the other 10 players or else his axing could be close.

The last ODI match to be played in Bloemfontein was in 2010 where the Proteas played Zimbabwe. It was a flat track and is a paradise for batsman but does have a little bit for the spinners but the team who bats first should score around 300 if they bat well.
