Group A is one of the strongest groups among all 4 groups since it includes the current T20 champions in England and perhaps the favourites of the 2012 T20 World Cup in India. Afghanistan managed to qualify for the T20 World Cup as they came runners ups to Ireland in the qualification and they will relish the chance to face two high quality teams. Kevin Pietersen will be missing for England meaning Eoin Morgan will have to step up to take over his role. Virat Kohli has really lifted his game over the past year and he will be looking at a successful campaign. For those that follow Afghanistan’s matches they will know Mohammad Nabi who is an electrifying all rounder who has all the skills.
Afghanistan – Qualified Team
England – Eoin Morgan
Eoin Morgan will be the man to have to step to fill the shoes voided by Kevin Pietersen who is not in the squad because of a fallout with the England team. The left hander is an extremely exciting batsman to watch and doesn’t mind at all clubbing the bowlers over the ropes. He averages 36.35 from 25 T20 Internationals and his strike rate is 132.90, so watch out Group A!
India – Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli is the prince of India and the 23 year old in a few years time will be the heart and soul of this team once Tendulkar and Sehwag retire. Kohli is a very experienced T20 player and he will play a important role in the middle order for India which can be quite vulnerable at times. Kohli averages over 31 in 110 T20 matches he has played and can be easily adapt to a situation in play by either accelerating or keeping wickets in hand.
Afghanistan – Mohammad Nabi
Mohammad Nabi is not doubt Afghanistan’s most well known and best player and he will have to play very well if Afghanistan are to have a chance in making the Super Eight’s phase which seems out of reach. Nabi hasn’t had that much success in T20 internationals but in the warm up match against the Bangladesh XI he showed off his skills quite nicely with a 24 ball 51 cameo and his performance included taking 2 wickets for 30 runs.

India Last 5 T20 Matches – WLWLW
Afghanistan Last 5 T20 Matches – WWLWL
India will be hard to beat in this group since it is played in the sub-continent where many teams fail to adapt to conditions. Afghanistan could possibly have a chance against England if they get their players to perform but England should finish 2nd in this group but will struggle without Pieterson against India.
India – 1st
England – 2nd
Afghanistan – 3rd
