Daniel Vettori, New Zealand’s bowling all rounder is unlikely to take part in New Zealand’s upcoming tour of India due to him picking up a groin strain during the 1st test against the West Indies. The groin injury also meant he had to be ruled out of the 2nd test against the West Indies where his team lost by 5 wickets to lose the series 2-0.
Vettori would be a very important figure if he were to make it to England since India’s pitches are well recognised for assisting the spinners quite a lot. Beating India in India is always a tough task and not many of the best teams in Test cricket can accomplish that feat and with Vettori unlikely to play in India New Zealand will need something special.
“‘He’s a 90% chance that he won’t be there,” Ross Taylor
The series in India starts on August 23 where the first of two tests starts. If Vettori isn’t fit to play Tarun Nethula, the leg spinner should take his place.
