How the Teams Stand

After losing the 1st ODI by a narrow margin Zimbabwe are ready to back up their performance to prove it wasn’t a one off. They return to Harare where they would much rather player with the extra bounce and carry so that should lift the confidence of the team to put in a good result. Zimbabwe are progressing each game they play and they almost chased down Pakistan’s 247 in the 1st ODI. They remained competitive with Pakistan almot all game with lapses where it mattered most but they will also be happy with the bowling effort as they restricted Pakistan to 247 after they looked very strong after 20 overs. Sibanda has played a crucial role in Zimbabwe’s set up in the last month or so as he has gotten Zimbabwe off to that good start and is scoring plenty of runs. Brian Vitori should return this match and that will be a boost on the Harare wicket and hopefully he can show Pakistan what he can do when it matters.

Pakistan have the chance to secure this ODI series against Zimbabwe in Harare already winning the 1st ODI. They were tested in the 1st ODI by Zimbabwe and they now know not to take them lightly but they will be expecting a much more one sided game. The experience of Younis Khan and Misbah Ul-Haq set up the match for Pakistan or else Pakistan looked in danger with the bat in hand after a positive start from the 2. Aziz Cheema was another man that contributed a lot to the win as he picked up 3 wickets but of 3 important men including Taibu, Taylor and Sibanda. Pakistan will need to find someone as a strike force with the new ball as the top order were very comfortable in facing the opening bowlers.

Team News

Kyle Jarvis and Brian Vitroi are expected to come back into the XI while Ray Price also may be an option but this will mean a shorter batting lineup so Lamb might be given the nod as a spinning allrounder. Malcolm Waller’s spot also may be under fire and Craig Ervine could be set for a return to the team.
