Hobart Hurricanes v Sydney Thunder at Hobart, Jan 8, 2017, Cricket Highlights
Sydney Thunder won by six wickets
Sydney Thunder, a side that had looked out for the count, registered its second win in four matches in emphatic fashion against Hobart Hurricanes, in a match that showed how close theBig Bash League is likely to be, and that the Thunder, rather than being in terminal decline, is actually just a slow-starting team.
Though Pat Cummins, Carlos Braithwaite and Clint McKay stole the headlines with their wickets that pegged down the Hurricanes' run-rate and prevented heroics from players usually expected to excel like Tim Paine and George Bailey, Fawad Ahmed showed his immense class with a wicketless spell that made it difficult for those on-strike to get out of their crease and cut loose; the youngster, who is perennially on the fringe of the Australian national side, only conceded 19 runs in a fine spell.
James Vince and Shane Watson then took control during the Thunder batting innings, with 44 and 55 helping to see the champions over the line.
