1st ODI, New Zealand vs England at Hamilton, Feb 26 - 2018, Cricket highlights
England and New Zealand both have excellent one-day sides, and both look most at-home in this form of the game. Trent Boult and Tim Southee were the heroes in this match, restricting England's total on a day when Jos Buttler, in particular, looked like cutrting loose and taking home a really big total. It was also a big day for Ross Taylor, the veteran taking a century that got the Black Caps over the line in the end.
This first ODI was won by the thinnest of margins, but the cricket played bodes well for the remaining games, with both sides looking like they are back to something like full strength. Chris Woakes bowled well for England, taking two wickets, while it was also nice to see Ben Stokes, who was out of the Ashes series due to a potential prosecution, again showing why England miss him so much when he isn't available. He took another two wickets, and though he only hit 12 with the bat before being caught by Mitchell Santner, it's good to have him back.
Santner and Boult were key in getting England's openers, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow, out cheaply, and they never let up the pressure in what was an excellent innings for the home bowlers. A rip-roaring game in Hamilton shows this is a series to savour.
