2nd Test: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, Oct 06 - Oct 10, 2017, Cricket highlights

At the start of Day 5, the game hung in balance. For Pakistan, it was important for the partnership between Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed to continue for as long as possible and for Sri Lanka, it was important to break the partnership as soon as possible.

The pair, once again, was off to a positive start and looked to dominate the Sri Lankan bowlers. 21 runs came off the first 3 overs and it was Asad Shafiq, who raced away towards his 11th Test ton in style. Soon after the celebrations, Pakistan received a big blow as they lost their captain Sarfraz Ahmed and the 173-run was broken. It was none other than Dilruwan Perera, who got the vital breakthrough for his team. In his very next over, Perera caught Amir plumb in front and registered his fifth five-wicket haul in Tests. Really, it was a wonderful display of off-spin bowling from the Sri Lankan, who, for the second time in the match, opened the doors of victory for his team.

Pakistan's tail-enders were unable to offer any sort of fight or resistance as Rangana Herath got rid of them. However, the big wicket of Shafiq was picked up by Suranga Lakmal, who bowled an absolute jaffa to send the centurion back in the pavilion. The hosts were eventually bowled out for 248 as they ended up losing the match by 68 runs.

The way Sri Lanka turned things around after the whitewash against India was heartening to see. Dimuth Karunaratne was a big contributor in both the wins and he deservingly won both MoM and MoS awards.
