Evin Lewis plundered 92, the highest total up to that point in the CPL, to secure a victory for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in match 10 of the CPL. Though his flow was interrupted briefly by a rain break, the 25 year-old still stood out in a game that, thanks to a forgiving, batsman-friendly pitch, suited someone with an aggressive style who played on the front foot.
Gros Islet seems to be a ground that allows for high scores at the moment, given that Barbados Tridents posted the same score, 196, on their visit to the stadium. On this occasion, Mohammad Nabi helped Lewis get the Patriots over the line, his 24 and Carlos Braithwaite's 21, down the order, proving crucial in the 33-run win.
West Indies veteran Jerome Taylor did his best, taking three wickets, but the batting of the Patriots was just too strong. An Andre Fletcher 48 was the best that the Stars could counter with, the side still, at that point, not having won a game in the CPL this season. Captain Darren Sammy, who has seen so many successes at club and international level, will be particularly disappointed to have gone out on three runs.
